The food and grocery product industry is Australia's largest manufacturing sector and makes a substantial contribution to the economic and social welfare of all Australians.  The Australian Food and Grocery Council, as the leading national organisation representing Australia’s packaged food, drink, and grocery products manufacturers, is offering five scholarship opportunities to encourage outstanding second year students in a food related program to pursue a career in Food Science, Engineering and Technology.  The scholarship provides educational support, professional development and industry exposure opportunities.

Details 
Value: $6000 AUD over 1 year (payable in two allocations of $3000 in each semester). There are five individual scholarships available.
Year awarded: 2014 inclusive

Eligibility
To be eligible for an AFGC Food Science Second year Scholarship, an applicant must:
Be able to be classified as an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident; be a domestic student within the meaning of the Fee Rules; and
Be enrolled as a full-time second year student in Food Science, Food Engineering and/ or Food Technology courses in their second year of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering program at the University of Queensland in 2014;
Have completed their first year of an undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering degree and obtained a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 5.5 or higher on a scale of 7.
